The shutting down of lines at three Bucks County Administration voting center locations was not a call made by the Bucks County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Frederick Harran said in a news release on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
"The lines are controlled by the County Commissioners who instructed Security to close the lines," according to Harran. "These lines were in fact closed early on numerous days up until yesterday."
Those lines should have "remained open until the last person who got in line at 5 p.m. that day was able to obtain their paperwork and cast their vote," Harran said in the news release. "Unfortunately, this situation is not under the control of the Bucks County Sheriff."
Harran said the sheriff's office will continue to maintain law and order while reiterating that the control of the on-demand ballot requests lines falls solely under the jurisdiction of the Bucks County Commissioners.
Bucks County has fallen under increased scrutiny in the election recently, according to previous reporting by Daily Voice.
The Trump campaign announced that it was suing the county for alleged voter suppression on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Prior to the lawsuit, a video showing a Bucks County mail-in ballot being opened and torn up after seeing votes for Donald Trump and U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick was proven to be a Russian-made fake.
